I am an attorney, writer, and independent educational consultant who helps students navigate the college admissions process with confidence and clarity.

With a Juris Doctor from UNC–Chapel Hill and a B.A. in English from NC State University, I bring a rare combination of analytical precision and editorial strength to my work. After more than two decades in law and writing, I shifted my focus to college advising, where strategy, storytelling, and mentorship intersect.

I complemented that experience with formal professional training, earning a Certificate in College Counseling through UCLA Extension. The comprehensive program includes coursework in college admissions, financial aid, testing and career assessment, inclusive counseling, and ethical advising, along with a supervised practicum working with students. This training allows me to approach each student's college process with both individualized attention and a strong foundation in current admissions practices and professional standards.

I work closely with high school students on essay development, résumé building, application strategy, and overall positioning. I am known for meticulous editing, clear communication, and helping students identify and articulate what makes them distinctive. My goal is not to manufacture a version of a student for admissions, but to help each student present an authentic, thoughtful, and compelling application.

My connection to young people extends beyond consulting. For more than 20 years, I have volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and youth mentor and have supported youth-led nonprofit work through The Food Drive Kids. I believe students thrive when they feel seen, heard, and empowered.

I live in Raleigh with my husband, Mac. We are the proud parents of two sons, William and Alexander.
