What services do you offer?
1
I provide personalized college counseling and strategic support that helps students and families make confident decisions, build strong application materials, and navigate the college admissions process with clarity. Services include long-term planning, college list development, application strategy, essay support, interview prep, and optional portfolio guidance for creative applicants. I also offer targeted hourly help for specific needs, such as resume reviews or essay editing.
How do your packages work?
2
I offer structured packages designed around typical student journeys, from long-term support beginning in early high school to focused senior-year advising. Each package includes defined deliverables and expectations so families know what to expect and avoid surprises. I also offer hourly or à la carte support for discrete tasks or short-term needs.
Why should we work with an Independent Educational Consultant (IEC)?
3
The college admissions process has become increasingly complex, competitive, and time-consuming. While school counselors do important work, they often manage large caseloads and may not have the capacity to provide individualized, ongoing guidance.
An Independent Educational Consultant offers personalized, one-on-one support tailored to a student’s goals, strengths, and circumstances. Working with an IEC allows students to receive thoughtful guidance on planning, college fit, application strategy, and writing, without the pressure of competing priorities or limited availability.
An IEC also serves as a steady, informed guide throughout the process, helping families stay organized, reduce stress, and make decisions grounded in fit rather than prestige. The goal is not just college acceptance, but confidence in the choices made and clarity about the path forward.

How do we get started?
Reach out through the contact form or schedule a brief introductory conversation. After learning your goals and timeline, I’ll recommend the best package and next steps for your family.
Is pricing available on the website?
My student has ADHD, anxiety, dyslexia, or another learning difference. Can you still help?
Do you really understand teenagers?
My student has an agricultural, rural, or nontraditional background or spends most of their time on one demanding activity like farming or riding. Can you help them stand out?
No, independent college counseling is advisory. I guide, strategize, and help you present your strongest self, but admissions decisions are always made by colleges and universities.
Most meetings are held virtually for convenience and flexibility. In-person meetings may be available for local clients upon request, subject to scheduling availability.
Life happens. I offer a limited number of courtesy reschedules with advance notice. After that, a small fee may apply to protect the scheduled time and maintain fairness to all clients.
To ensure pricing aligns with your unique needs and timeline, detailed fees are shared following an initial conversation.
Absolutely. Many of the students I work with benefit from structured, individualized guidance and a calm, supportive approach. I am experienced in helping students who may feel overwhelmed by the college admissions process, struggle with organization or time management, or need help breaking large tasks into manageable steps.
While I do not provide therapy or formal educational accommodations, I work collaboratively with students and families to create clear plans, realistic timelines, and strategies that play to each student’s strengths. My goal is to help students feel confident, supported, and capable throughout the process, while presenting themselves authentically in their applications.
Yes. In addition to being a parent, I’ve worked closely with teenagers for most of my adult life, in classrooms, churches, volunteer settings, and one-on-one mentoring relationships. I’ve spent years volunteering with high school students through Sunday school, local schools, and community organizations, including Food Drive Kids, and I’m comfortable meeting students where they are developmentally, emotionally, and academically.
In addition to lived experience, I’ve completed formal training through UCLA Extension’s college counseling program, including coursework focused on working with adolescents from diverse backgrounds. I understand that teenagers are balancing school, activities, social pressures, and growing independence, and I approach my work with patience, structure, and respect. My goal is to help students feel heard, supported, and capable, without pressure or judgment.
Yes. I work particularly well with students whose lives and responsibilities fall outside the typical school-centered experience. This includes students from rural or agricultural backgrounds, equestrian athletes, working students, and those with family responsibilities that limit time for traditional extracurriculars.
These students often develop extraordinary discipline, leadership, problem-solving skills, and resilience, but they may struggle to explain those experiences in a way colleges fully understand. I help students identify what their experiences really demonstrate and articulate them clearly through essays, activity lists, and interviews, so they are seen as multidimensional applicants rather than defined by a single activity or circumstance.
